Step 5: Waste Reduction

As a responsible manufacturer of PVC based products, we are fully aware of our responsibilities with regards to waste liquids and gases from our production processes. We continually capture and monitor these waste streams, recycling them back into the production process where possible.

Between 2002 and 2006, Altro reduced its waste to landfill by 26% and due to the installation of our innovative in house safety flooring recycling system, we have not sent any factory waste PVC to landfill since mid-2007. In addition to this, we managed to reduce our general waste to landfill by another 24% in 2008. Including the factory waste PVC that is now recycled, this has resulted in a total reduction in waste to landfill by over 50% since mid-2007.

We have set a new target for 2009 of reducing our waste to landfill by a further 20%.

All consumables are recycled wherever possible such as paper, cardboard, toner cartridges, mobile phones, fluorescent lighting tubes and redundant IT equipment.
